Dinara de Silva victorious at J30 Islamabad

Sri Lanka’s top-ranked tennis player, Dinara de Silva, clinched the Girls Singles title at the J30 Islamabad event of the ITF Pakistan International Junior Tennis Championship, which concluded on Saturday at the Pakistan Tennis Federation Tennis Complex.

The 16-year-old, a student of St Bridget’s Convent, triumphed over Karolina Ligai of Kazakhstan, winning 6-4 in the final. This victory marks de Silva’s second ITF Championship title, following in the footsteps of her fellow Sri Lankan, Saajida Razick of Bishop’s College, who won the same event last year.

In the semi-finals, she defeated So Yuna of Korea with a solid 6-3, 6-4 performance. Earlier in the tournament, she dominated her quarter-final match against Aaraa Azim of the Maldives, winning 6-2, 6-1. In the second round, de Silva advanced by defeating Jin Hong of Korea 6-3, 6-1.

The Boys Singles title at the World Junior Tennis Championship went to Sion Ji from Korea. The tournament, organized by the Pakistan Tennis Federation and sponsored by Ali Embroidery Mills, ran for six days.
