Computer laboratory donated to school

A classroom at Vidyartha College Kandy has been given a distinctly more contemporary makeover. Techzone Kandy and Lenovo have launched a new computer laboratory featuring 10 Lenovo all-in-one PCs, a 75-inch techno view AI interactive panel with AIcamera, and a complete modern lab setup.

The point isn’t simply that the machines are new. It is what students can do with them. Artificial Intelligence is changing the way people work, create, communicate and learn. So the computer in the classroom is no longer merely a computer. It is becoming a gateway—to digital creativity, AI, research, experimentation and a world of information that moves considerably faster than the school timetable. For  Mohamed Ismail Famy, Chairman of The Technocity (Pvt) Ltd, technology comes with a responsibility.

“We are now living in the era of Artificial Intelligence, where technology is changing the way we learn, work and build our future,” he said. “Our responsibility goes beyond simply providing technology. We must also help create opportunities for the next generation to experience and learn with it.”

The launch was attended by the  Dr. Harsha Suranga Fernandok, Governor of the Central Province, together with  Minhaj Farook, Director, Laptop.lk; Hemal Chandraratne, Manager, Techzone Kandy;  Naveen Kejriwal and Shekhar Karmakar of Lenovo; D. M. K. Dasanayaka, Additional Provincial Director of Education (Development); A. K. P. S. Kodithuwakku, Deputy Director of Education (Development, ICT), Provincial Department of Education, Central Province; and Premasinghe G. H. M. A., Kandy Chief Secretary, Provincial Council. There is something reassuring about putting powerful technology in the hands of young people—not because it guarantees what they will become, but because it gives them another tool with which to discover it.The AI era has arrived. At Vidyartha College, the students now have a front-row seat.
