ComBank dominates LMD’s 2025 Gala with the highest number of awards

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon reaffirmed its status as one of Sri Lanka’s top corporate entities when it led the field with six awards at the prestigious LMD Awards Night 2025. 

In 2024, LMD ranked Commercial Bank the ‘Most Awarded Corporate Entity’ in Sri Lanka for the second consecutive year, on the basis of a total of 115 awards won by the Bank in that year, according to the magazine’s research and verification by the company. LMD said its study involved the compilation of a comprehensive list of awards won by entities featured in LMD’s special editions in that year – Brands Annual, Most Respected, Corporate Life (which included the Corporate Happiness Index or CHI and Best Workplaces in Sri Lanka) and the LMD 100.

The first Sri Lankan bank with a market capitalisation of more than US$ 1 billion, Commercial Bank was also the first bank in the country be listed among the Top 1000 banks of the world, and has the highest capital base among all Sri Lankan banks. The Bank is the largest private sector lender in Sri Lanka and the largest lender to the country’s SME sector. Commercial Bank is also a leader in digital innovation and is Sri Lanka’s first 100% carbon-neutral bank.

Commercial Bank operates a network of strategically located branches and automated machines island-wide, and has the widest international footprint among Sri Lankan banks, with 20 branches in Bangladesh, a fully-fledged Tier I Bank with a majority stake in the Maldives, a Microfinance company in Myanmar and a representative office in the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
