Train services on the Upcountry railway line are scheduled to resume today (Oct. 2), nearly 10 months after operations were suspended following the impact of Cyclone Ditwah, the Railway Department said.
Railway Transport Superintendent Asanka Samarasinghe said train services operating from Colombo to Peradeniya and Gampola would recommence from today.
He said services on the Upcountry line had remained suspended for approximately 10 months due to damage caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
The resumption of services is expected to restore rail connectivity between Colombo and several key destinations along the Upcountry railway line.
