After a hard-fought 20-24 loss to Sri Lions Sports Club in their first-round encounter, CH & FC are ready to bounce back with a strong performance in the upcoming Mastercard ‘A’ Division Inter-club Plate Championship match at the Air Force Grounds in Ratmalana today from 4PM.
The team from Maitland Crescent, coming off a commanding win over Navy Sports Club last week, will look to take full advantage of this second chance. Their performance in the first round left them with much to prove, and the players are determined to exact revenge on their opponents in what promises to be an exciting contest.
One of the key highlights for CH & FC has been the smooth partnership in their halfback combination. Hashan Maduranga and Dinesh de Silva have been in excellent form, running the show in the midfield and guiding the attack with precision. The backline has been equally impressive, with the centre pairing of Pasindu Bandara and captain Janidu Dilshan standing out for their attacking flair and leadership. Winger Raveen Fernando will be a constant threat, using his powerful running ability to challenge the Sri Lions defence down the flanks. Fullback Janith Chandimal, a tower of strength in the last line of defence, has been reliable with safe collections, solid kick-touch, and accurate place-kicking.
Up front, CH & FC’s forwards have also delivered strong performances. Hooker Pulasthi Dassanayake, prop Charith Silva, second-row forward Nirosh Perera, and back-rowers Raveen Anjula and Devinda Ratnayake have all made significant contributions, ensuring the team holds its own in both scrums and open play.
Meanwhile, Sri Lions will be looking to recover from their disappointing 12-39 loss to Police Sports Club last week. Led by fullback Kevin Dixon, the Lions are determined to bounce back and put on a much stronger showing. With talented players such as Dushmantha Priyadarshana, Ranithu Rithmal, Krishan Madusanka, and former Peterite captain Dulaj Navodya, Sri Lions have the depth to challenge CH & FC.
Despite their recent setback, Sri Lions’ squad is filled with quality players capable of turning the game around. The combination of power, skill, and experience within their ranks will make this an intense encounter.
