Ceylon United Business Alliance takes tax concerns to IRD

The Ceylon United Business Alliance (CUBA) President and Executive Committee held a meeting yesterday with officials of the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) to discuss several issues affecting small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The discussion focused on the challenges faced by SMEs, particularly regarding taxation policies and the impact of Value Added Tax (VAT) on businesses. 

The Alliance highlighted the difficulties experienced by SME operators under the current economic conditions.

IRD officials acknowledged the concerns raised and requested the Ceylon United Business Alliance to make a written submission outlining the issues along with proposed solutions regarding the VAT matter.

Appreciating the positive engagement from the IRD officials and the Alliance noted that they look forward to continued dialogue to support the growth and sustainability of the SME sector.
