The Canadian Chamber of Commerce in Sri Lanka (CanCham SL) will lead a Business Promotion Mission to Canada from 18 October to 1 November covering Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal, with a focus on strengthening business connections, promoting investment opportunities and building stronger links between the Sri Lankan and Canadian business communities.
The 40-member delegation will comprise CanCham SL’s Founder Board Directors along with leading Sri Lankan member companies, including Colombo Port City, a Special Economic Zone (SEZ) and Home Lands Skyline Ltd. The mission will focus on pitching investment opportunities in Sri Lanka through business forums, sector-specific discussions and one-on-one meetings aimed at connecting Sri Lankan and Canadian businesses.
CanCham SL Founder and Board Member Priyantha Chandrasekara said: “This mission is about creating direct connections between the Sri Lankan and Canadian business communities. By bringing together businesses, investors, professional networks and institutional stakeholders across several Canadian cities, we hope to open new avenues for collaboration and strengthen the commercial relationship between the two countries.”
In Vancouver, the program will focus on key sectors including real estate and education, tourism, healthcare and wellness, AgriTech, research and development, green housing, FinTech, banking and financial services, and mortgages. The delegation will then travel to Toronto for meetings with key investment and trade stakeholders, followed by a press conference scheduled for 27 October.
The delegation will then travel to Ottawa for discussions with potential business partners in trade, investment and tourism, in collaboration with the Sri Lankan High Commission in Ottawa. The program will also include meetings with business communities and chambers, followed by a Parliamentary visit.
CanCham SL Founder and Board Member Mohamed Hameez said: “There is an opportunity to build stronger economic and business cooperation between Canada and Sri Lanka through practical partnerships. Sri Lanka can serve as a platform for Canadian businesses looking to access the wider Indo-Pacific region, while Canadian investment and business expertise can open new opportunities in Sri Lanka. We hope this mission will help build partnerships that support the economic objectives of both countries.”
From 30 October to 1 November, the mission will be in Montreal for the International Travel and Tourism Show at the Palais des congrès de Montréal, promoting Sri Lanka’s tourism sector and creating opportunities to connect with businesses, chambers and other stakeholders. The program will also include a business networking session with Sri Lankan and Montreal-based businesses, chambers and consular representatives.
As part of the business promotion program, the delegation will showcase a portfolio of potential investment opportunities in Sri Lanka across tourism, hospitality, logistics, manufacturing, pharmaceuticals, electric mobility, technology, renewable energy and aviation. The portfolio includes projects ranging from tourism and hospitality developments to large-scale opportunities in EV assembly, logistics infrastructure and technology parks.
The mission forms part of CanCham SL’s efforts to facilitate stronger commercial links between Sri Lanka and Canada by creating platforms for business-to-business engagement, investment discussions and sector-level collaboration.
The Canada program will conclude on 1 November following the delegation’s participation in the International Travel and Tourism Show and related business engagements in Montreal
