Belarusian Students' Annual Get-Together 2025 celebrates community, achievement, and Future doctors

The Annual Belarusian Get-Together 2025 successfully concluded with over 200 participants celebrating community, academic excellence, and the future of medicine. The event was organized by ISC Education, renowned for its dedicated to international education, in collaboration with the Belarusian Graduates' Association in Sri Lanka for the fourth consecutive year uniting students, graduates and their families

The memorable occasion began with a spirited cricket match between current medical students and graduates, strengthening bonds between and connecting generations of the Belarusian State Medical University (BSMU) alumni. The day culminated in an evening ceremony to honour tradition, achievement, and the medical profession's values.

The formal evening program commenced with the lighting of the traditional oil lamp, followed by the national anthems of Belarus and Sri Lanka. Distinguished participants included Dr. Harry Prasad, President of the Belarusian Graduates Association and BSMU Representative in Sri Lanka. Also in attendance were ISC Education senior management and student representatives.

A centerpiece of the evening was the White Coat Ceremony, where 38 first-year medical students received their first white coats, symbolizing their transformation from students to future doctors. The ceremony emphasized that the white coat represents hope, healing, and the trust that will one day be placed in their hands by patients and communities.

The event also showcased the outstanding academic achievements within the Sri Lankan student community at BSMU. Ten students received ISC Belarusian State Medical University Scholarships, recognizing impressive academic performance, research contributions, and leadership qualities. Among these recipients, four students were awarded Higher Achiever Scholarships worth $1,000 each.

The evening concluded with cultural performances by first-year students, cricket awards recognizing athletic achievements, and a group photograph capturing the spirit of community that defines the Belarusian medical student experience in Sri Lanka.

The event was also supported by strategic partners including TGL Travels (Pvt) Ltd, an IATA-accredited travel agency with over 30 years of experience serving as ISC Education's official travel partner.

Professor Rubnikovich Sergei, Rector, Belarusian State Medical University, said, "One of the greatest strengths of our BSMU family is that our connection doesn't end with graduation. The friendships, the support, and the sense of belonging you build here will stay with you for life — wherever your career takes you. It is this spirit of community that makes us not just a university, but a family spread across the world.”

Induja Pushpanathan, Director/COO of ISC Education emphasized, “This gathering has strengthened bonds over the year, where parents of new students connect with experienced families, students about to leave for Belarus meet their seniors, and everyone feels part of a supportive international medical community."

The Belarusian Graduates' Association, established in 2017, now connects graduates from over 100 countries worldwide, with the Sri Lankan chapter representing a significant and growing segment of this international network. The association's mission focuses on maintaining strong alumni ties, supporting academic and career growth, and raising the profile of Belarusian universities globally.
