Atlas PlayPalz joins national ECD Week 2026 to strengthen early childhood development

Atlas PlayPalz, an activity-based learning brand dedicated to building children’s skills through play from Atlas Axillia Co. (Pvt) Ltd., partnered with the Ministry of Women and Child Affairs for Sri Lanka’s Early Childhood Development (ECD) Week 2026, helping build wider awareness of quality early learning experiences. The initiative engaged over 1,000 participants, including children, preschool teachers and parents, through three events held as part of the islandwide ECD Week 2026 programme. It highlighted how activity-based learning supports children’s cognitive, emotional, social, physical and creative development.

Around 90% of a child’s brain growth takes place during the early years, making the first seven years critical in shaping future learning and development. Recognising ECD as both a family responsibility and a national priority, the programme brought together children, parents, teachers and key stakeholders to encourage greater awareness and action.

Early Childhood Development (ECD) Week 2026 commenced on 14th July and was conducted under the guidance of Hon. Saroja Savithri Paulraj, Minister of Women and Child Affairs. As part of the islandwide programme, Atlas PlayPalz began its series of activities with a children’s event at Sri Bodhi Ground, Gampaha, on 15th July, where more than 500 children took part in interactive activity zones and educational play experiences that encouraged creativity, curiosity and hands-on learning. This was followed by an event for over 500 preschool teachers at Temple Trees on 16th July. The session highlighted the important role teachers play in early childhood development and how purposeful play can make learning more engaging. The event also marked the launch of the new Atlas PlayPalz activity kits, designed to develop creativity, problem-solving ability, fine motor skills, communication, focus and emotional expression through guided play. The programme concluded with a parent engagement event at The Sri Lanka Foundation on 20th July, attended by over 100 parents of children aged three to five. The session shared practical ways parents can use everyday play to support learning and development at home.

Addressing the event at Temple Trees, Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya said, “The early years play a vital role in shaping a child’s future. ECD Week 2026 is an important initiative in strengthening awareness of early childhood development as a national priority and encouraging parents, teachers and communities to work together to give every child a strong foundation for learning and growth.”

Commenting on the initiative, Kasuni Bandara, General Manager Marketing, Atlas Axillia Co. (Pvt) Ltd., said, “At Atlas, we believe children learn best when they are free to explore, create and discover. Through Atlas PlayPalz, we aim to support children, parents and preschool teachers with practical tools and experiences that make early learning enjoyable, purposeful and accessible, while continuing to make learning fun.”

With the introduction of its new modular activity kits, Atlas PlayPalz strengthens its role as an activity-based learning solution, taking learning through play to a more advanced level. The initiative further reinforces the brand’s commitment to supporting children, parents and preschool educators while helping nurture creative, confident and capable young learners.
