ASPI surpasses 13,000 mark

Marking the highest level since January 31, 2022, the All Share Price Index (ASPI) of the Colombo Stock Exchange surpassed the 13,000 mark yesterday increasing by 136.20 points to close at 13,125.19. The turnover stood at Rs. 6.9 billion.

The bullish sentiments of the market were driven by price gains across Banks and blue-chip stocks.

Meanwhile, amidst multiple crossings and increased participation from retail investors, turnover rose by 62.7% compared to the previous session, reaching a two-week high of Rs. 7.0 billion.

This marked an increase of over 100% from the monthly average standing at Rs.3.0 billion said First Capital Stock Brokers.

Additionally, out of seven off-board transactions, notable transactions were recorded in DFCC where 9.0% of the stake in DFCC was traded at Rs. 85.0 per share through nine off-board transactions, which contributed 47.4% of the overall turnover.

Moreover, the Banking sector led the turnover by 66%, followed by the Food, Beverage and Tobacco and Capital Goods sectors jointly contributing 17% of the overall turnover.

Foreign investors turned net sellers with a net outflow of Rs. 66.4 million.

On the external front, the Rupee remained stable against the USD closing at Rs.292.6/USD compared to Rs. 292.6/USD recorded the previous day.
