17Amana Takaful Insurance, one of Sri Lanka's most awarded insurers, successfully concluded its Annual Awards 2025 on 24 June 2026 at Shangri-La Colombo, honouring the outstanding achievements of employees and sales professionals from both Amana General Insurance and Amana Life Insurance.
The prestigious evening was attended by Chairman – General Insurance, M. Zulficar Ghouse; Managing Director, Hassan Kassim; CEOs S. Karthigun and Gehan Rajapakse; CEO & Managing Director of Amana Takaful Maldives, Hareez Sulaiman; members of the Board of Directors; the leadership team of Amãna Bank; and other distinguished guests, whose presence added further prestige to the celebration.
Inspired by the passion, unity, and competitive spirit of the FIFA World Cup, this year's celebration was held under the theme "The Ultimate League of Champions." The entire event was conceptualised around football's grandest stage, featuring immersive stadium-inspired visuals, cinematic productions, football-themed entertainment, and a championship atmosphere that celebrated teamwork, perseverance, and the relentless pursuit of excellence.
Marking a historic milestone, Amana Takaful presented over 250 awards across both Life and General Insurance—the largest recognition ceremony in the company's history. The awards celebrated excellence across sales, leadership, operations, and corporate performance, including the prestigious Champion of Champions Awards, MD's Club, CEO's Club, CEO's & Operational Excellence Awards, MDRT, COT and other outstanding individual and team achievements.
Representing Amana General Insurance, Mr. Afzal Ibrahim was crowned Champion of Champions 2025, recognising an exceptional year of sales excellence. A member of the Amana Takaful family since 2010, Afzal's remarkable journey has been defined by unwavering dedication and consistent performance. His achievements in 2025—including winning the Malaysia Tour Competition, being recognised as the Retail Promoter, and emerging as the Sales Manager Category Winner—culminated in the company's highest honour, firmly establishing him among Amana Takaful's most accomplished sales professionals.
Representing Amana Life Insurance, Mr. Somasuntharam Surenther was named Champion of Champions 2025/2026, becoming the first gentleman from Sales Business Unit 3 to receive this prestigious title. He also created history as the company's first advisor to qualify for the Million Dollar Round Table (MDRT) in two consecutive years, achieving the milestone in both 2025 and 2026.
The evening featured immersive visual productions, football-inspired entertainment, and compelling storytelling that brought the World Cup theme to life, creating an unforgettable championship atmosphere.
