Amal and Damith steers Pathana to victory

An entertaining fifth wicket partnership of 175 runs between Amal Wanigasekera and Damith Dushantha, steered Isipathana Golden Oldies to a 59-run win over Old Sylvestrians Cricket Club in a thrilling Masters 25 overs cricket encounter at the Army grounds (Sappers), Mattegoda recently.

Wanigasekera stroked a quick fire unbeaten 78 (4x11 – 6x1 in 69 balls), while Dushantha cracked an undefeated 74 (4x8 – 6x2 in 70 balls), the duo’s stand propelled to Isipathana Golden Oldies to 186/4 in their 25 overs.

They had one stage reeled at 4/11 before Wanigasekara and Dushantha came to the Pathana’s rescue, while Dhananjaya Athauda was the pick of the bowlers claiming all the 4 wickets for 27. 

In reply, Old Sylvestrians Cricket Club were restricted to 127/9 in their 25 overs with Dhananjaya Pathirana making a top score of 51 but the rest struggled to cope with Chamara Praneeth who returned figures of 4/15.

Awards were presented to the Man of the Match, Best Batsman and Best Bowler.
