41st Annual Mercantile Athletics Championship – MAS win record 8th consecutive title

MAS Holdings continued to stamp their class for the 8^th consecutive year as Champions of the Mercantile Athletics Championship organised by the Mercantile Athletics Federation of Sri Lanka at the Diyagama Stadium recently. With a staggering 548 points and 253 medals including 82 gold, MAS yet again etched their name in Mercantile history with a 242-point lead in comparison to the runner-up.              

2,188 athletes took part in 338 events this year. In the process 27 meet records were set. This year’s edition was special as it was recognised under the World Athletics Ranking competition. Another new addition saw Private Universities and Higher Educational Institutes taking part in the championships for the first time in history.
