Tributes to Anushka and Udeshika from the village

Two receptions were held recently for Anushka Sanjeevani and Udeshika Prabodhani, who represented the Sri Lankan cricket team that won the Asian Women's Cricket Championship. Anushka Sanjeevani was welcomed in a ceremony held near the Hikkaduwa bus station and then taken in a motorcade to the Hikkaduwa Sri Sumangala Vidyalaya, where she studied.

Udeshika Prabodhani was brought in a procession to her home in Karandeniya Diyapita Gallena to welcome Prabodhani, and a ceremony was held at Karandeniya Gangima Vidyalaya, where she studied. Diyapita Gallena Prashakti Youth Club had organized this tribute ceremony.
