The Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA) reports that nearly 700,000 tourists have visited the island so far this year.
According to the Authority, a total of 692,744 arrivals were recorded between 1 January and 22 March.
Indian nationals make up the largest group of visitors, with 135,070 arrivals. Significant numbers of tourists have also travelled from countries such as the United Kingdom, Russia, Germany and China.
136,089 tourists arrived in Sri Lanka between 1 March and 22 March alone, indicating a steady inflow of visitors as the peak travel season continues.
