SLIIT crowned Sri Lanka's No. 1 Non-State University, standing 3rd nationwide in Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025

In a landmark achievement that reinforces its educational excellence, the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT), has emerged as Sri Lanka's number 1 non-state higher education institution, while also securing an impressive joint third place among all universities nationwide. Additionally, setting an unprecedented benchmark in industry relevance, SLIIT stands unrivalled as the country's number 1 university for industry-oriented degree programs, according to the prestigious Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2025. The outstanding recognition validates SLIIT's commitment to bridging academia with real-world industry demands.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings, now in its 25th year, is widely recognized as one of the most comprehensive and balanced comparisons in global higher education. Its reputation for providing the definitive list of the world's best universities instills confidence in SLIIT's impressive third position among Sri Lankan universities.

The Rankings utilize carefully selected performance indicators to provide trusted insights across teaching, research, international outlook, knowledge transfer and industry linkages. These indicators are weighted appropriately to determine the final rankings, offering a holistic view of an institution's performance.
