Deputy Inspector General of Police Jagath Seram, has reached a significant milestone in martial arts by earning his black belt in karate. Renowned for his dedication to martial arts and community service, Seram has been actively involved in promoting environmental protection and community policing through martial arts.
On September 15 during a black belt awarding ceremony held at the Nilwala Jayasinghe Function Hall, DIG Seram was officially recognised for his achievement by the Shotokan Karate Kyokai Association, where he received his training. His journey reflects not only his commitment to personal development but also his passion for the martial arts community in Sri Lanka.
In addition to his role as Chairman of Police Boxing, Seram is also a published author. He has written three books focusing on criminology and has contributed to global peace efforts, including his work in East Timor in 2011. His dedication has seen him represent the Sri Lankan Police force in 28 countries.
Notably, Seram’s commitment to martial arts extends to his family, as both of his daughters, aged 18 and 15, hold brown belts in karate.
