Mahinda Galle, Mahamaya BV Kadawatha Aerobics Gymnastics Champs

Mahinda College, Galle (28 points) and Mahamaya Balika Vidyalaya, Kadawatha (41 points) emerged All Island Boys’ and Girls’ Aerobics Gymnastics Champions when the tournament was concluded at the Bandaragama Indoor Sports Stadium recently.

The tournament was organised by the Education Department with the cooperation of the Sports Section of the Western Province Education Department from October 4 to 6.

The runners up of Boys’ and Girls’ events were secured by Homagama M.V. ( 23 points), and Kottawa Dharmapala Vidyalaya (25 points) respectively.

Bronz medals for the third places of both Boys and Girls tournaments were secured by Kottawa Dharmapala Vidyalaya (14 points) and Mahinda Rajapaksa Vidyalaya, (15 points), Homagama respectively

Accordingly Mahinda College, Galle captured 6 Gold medals, 16 Silver and 3 Bronze medals while Girls’ Champions Kadawatha Mahamaya Balika took away 19 Gold, 6 Silver and 3 Bronze that includes 28 medals.

The best boy Gymnast was R.M.Henuka Hirumal of Mahinda Rajapaksa College, Homagama and Methini Supulmi Samarathunga (under 20) of Sirimavo Bandaranaike MV, Colombo 7 was honoured as the Best Girl Gymnast at the tournament.
