City Cycle Industries Manufacturing (Pvt.) Ltd., better known as Lumala, a leader at the forefront of smart mobility and environmental stewardship, stepped as the proud title sponsor for the ZeroPlastic Movement Avurudu event held on April 23rd at Viharamahadevi Park.
The event saw over the participation of over a thousand youths, coming together to celebrate this year’s Sinhala and Tamil New Year without single-use plastic, setting a great example for others to follow. With a collective commitment to environmental sustainability, the festival showcased a harmonious blend of tradition and eco-consciousness, setting a new standard for celebratory events.
From traditional games to cultural performances, every aspect of the Avurudu festivities was embedded with the spirit of sustainability. Through collaborative efforts, Lumala and ZeroPlastic Movement demonstrated that joyful celebrations need not come at the expense of the planet.
The overwhelmingly positive attitude shown by participants is evidence of its shared accountability and the will to adopt sustainable solutions.
ZeroPlastic Movement is Sri Lanka’s largest environmental volunteer organization driven to empower individuals through education and action with over 10,000 volunteers from across universities, corporations, and schools, actively working towards combatting plastic pollution through education and advocacy.
Lumala had their range of bicycles and the recently introduced Eco Hauler e-bikes as part of the activities. Its e-bikes are now experiencing a surge in demand among corporations, community-based organizations, state institutions, and many others, with various collaborations being pursued to bring about a positive social impact, to continue championing environmental initiatives that benefit both present and future generations.
