85A 130 kilometre open standard cycle race with 159 cyclists competed in a ride held in Kottawa recently organised under the auspices of the International Lions Club 306 D 7 Pannipitiya Metro Lions Club and the Kottawa Police. After a fierce competition, the first place was won by Sachintha Piumal (3 hours 20 mins and 30 secs), the second place by Suranga Ranaweera, and the third place by W.D. Pathum Sampath. A community service day featuring a blood donation camp and a free spectacle distribution programme was held alongside the Open Standard Cycle Race, The cycling competition offered a grand prize of Rs. 100,000 for the first-place winner, with additional prizes being awarded to all of the top 15 finishers.
