HUTCH Marks World Sustainability Day with Plant Distribution Drive Among Other Initiatives
HUTCH, one of Sri Lanka’s leading mobile network service providers, recently reaffirmed its commitment to sustainability through a plant distribution initiative for its employees and customers. Aligned with World Sustainability Day on October 26th, this initiative forms part of HUTCH's broader efforts to encourage sustainable living, both at work and at home. The drive included distributing plants to walk-in customers at the HUTCH flagship store on October 29th, 30th, and 31st, symbolizing the importance of greenery and offering a tangible way for employees and customers alike to contribute to environmental protection and restoration.
Under the banner of “Our Land. Our Future. We are #GenerationRestoration”, the plant distribution project aims to inspire HUTCH employees to take active steps towards environmental responsibility and incorporate sustainable habits into their daily lives. By cultivating a “green mindset” amongst its people, HUTCH is working to foster a culture of sustainability that can reach beyond the office environment. This effort is a continuation of HUTCH’s many initiatives that align with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs); in this case, SDG 15 – preservation of life on land.
Through initiatives such as plant distribution, tree planting, and beach cleanups, HUTCH reinforces its long-term commitment to environmental conservation and ecosystem restoration. Beyond corporate responsibility, HUTCH views nurturing a healthy environment as a moral duty, encouraging sustainable practices among its employees, their families, and the wider community. This plant distribution drive is part of an ongoing effort that includes awareness sessions, tree planting campaigns, and projects like the recent Coastal Clean-Up 2024, held in alignment with World Sustainability Day. HUTCH remains dedicated to fostering sustainable lifestyles for a cleaner, greener tomorrow.
