CEYCERT, first Lankan certification body to receive SLAB ISO/IEC 27001:2022

CEYCERT (Private) Limited has been accredited by the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board (SLAB) for ISO/IEC 27001:2022 Information Security Management Systems (ISMS) under the fields of ‘Information Security, Cybersecurity and Privacy Protection-Information Security Management System Certification’.

This accomplishment marks CEYCERT as the first Sri Lankan certification body to receive direct SLAB accreditation for ISO/IEC 27001:2022, setting a new standard in the nation’s information security landscape in Sri Lanka.

This milestone demonstrates CEYCERT’s unwavering commitment to upholding the highest standards of information security and integrity in certification processes. By achieving this accreditation, CEYCERT is solidifying its role as a trusted partner for organizations seeking reliable certification services in the field of Information Security Management. The significance of this prestigious achievement goes beyond CEYCERT itself—it represents a major step forward in the growth of local expertise in information security.

In today’s globally connected business landscape, ensuring the integrity of certification processes has become critical for maintaining trust and compliance. A critical part of this process is the identification of ‘critical locations’, which require enhanced scrutiny by accreditation bodies. Such assessments maintain consistency and high standards, reinforcing the credibility of directly accredited CBs.

SLAB, Sri Lanka’s premier national accreditation body, plays a key role in supervising and validating these CBs, ensuring adherence to international benchmarks. On the other hand, affiliated CBs in Sri Lanka operate under a different model. These certification bodies often affiliate with accredited CBs from other countries, but they lack direct evaluation and oversight by their respective accreditation bodies. As a result, there is an increased risk of inconsistencies and potential compromises in certification integrity. Many of these affiliated CBs are not designated Sri Lanka as a critical location, resulting in a lack of rigorous scrutiny and raising doubts about the global acceptance of their certifications.

CEYCERT, which has received accreditation from SLAB, adheres to the highest standards, providing accredited certifications that are globally accepted and trusted. As more Sri Lankan organizations prioritize cybersecurity and data protection, CEYCERT’s accredited status ensures that they have access to world-class certification services within their own country. This move not only enhances the capabilities of Sri Lankan businesses to meet global standards but also fosters a culture of continuous improvement in the information security sector.

Sanjiv Manchanaike, Managing Director of the CEYCERT, said that this milestone is a testament to our team’s dedication, hard work, and commitment to excellence.
