Agrarian Insurance Board introduces dedicated insurance scheme for divers

The Agricultural and Agrarian Insurance Board, operating under the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock, Land, and Irrigation, has introduced a dedicated insurance scheme for divers.

This initiative aligns with the government’s fisheries policy, the Board said.

Under the scheme, in the event of a diver’s death while engaged in fishery-related diving activities, a compensation of Rs. 1.2 million will be provided. To obtain this annual coverage, the fisherman is required to pay a premium of Rs. 1,920.

Additionally, the Board has specified that an annual insurance cover of Rs. 1.5 million can be obtained for a premium of Rs. 2,550, while an annual cover of Rs. 2.0 million requires a premium of Rs. 3,600.

According to the Board, the scheme also provides benefits in cases of total permanent disability, temporary disability, or the disappearance of the fisherman during service.
